Michael assists clients with a range of complex public, private, and commercial issues. He appears regularly before all levels of the court in Newfoundland and Labrador.
Michael began his career at a national firm in Toronto before working as a research lawyer for the Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador, Associate Counsel for the Muskrat Falls Inquiry, and a law clerk at the Supreme Court of Canada.
In addition to advocating for his clients, Michael presents and publishes on a range of legal topics. His publications include several journal articles co-authored with the Honourable Malcolm Rowe about constitutional, administrative, and appellate issues.
Michael is a member of the Court of Appeal of Newfoundland and Labrador’s Rules Committee and a member of the Canadian Bar Association and the Advocates’ Society. Prior to his legal career, Michael was a classical violinist, and he continues to play occasionally with the Newfoundland Symphony Orchestra. But these days, he spends most of his spare time with his children and step-children in St. John’s.
